PEP Scholarship Info
Personalized Education Program
As of July 1st, 2023, PEP went into effect in the state of Florida as a new school choice option. This program offers each homeschooled child about $8,000 each school year to be used toward eligible educational expenses. Under this program, students are required to take a norm-referenced standardized test at the end of the school year in order to renew their PEP scholarship. Our tests that we offer are approved by the Florida DOE for PEP scholarship students.

Personalized Education Program Parent Resources:
Letter of Termination: After your child is awarded the FTC-PEP scholarship, you will need to submit this letter of termination to your county homeschool office, IF your child was enrolled as a home education student with your local county school district's home education office. If your child was enrolled in public or private school, you would simply withdraw/unenroll from their school, since PEP students are not allowed to be enrolled full-time in private/public school.

Florida has 4 main school choice options to meet each child's needs:
-
Public School
-
Private School (FES-EO Private School Scholarship Available)
-
Home Education under your county's school district
-
PEP - Homeschooling with about $8,000 under Step Up For Students
Option 3 and 4 are for Homeschoolers. Each option has different annual testing/evaluation requirements, so be sure to make sure that you understand the differences before deciding which homeschooling path to take.
Home Education under your county school district: Typically, parents choose to have a certified teacher do a portfolio evaluation. Although there are other options available to meet the annual requirement, such as standardized testing.
PEP, Personalized Education Program: Parents must have their child take an approved standardized test each year by the end of the school year. We offer 2 approved PEP standardized tests that can easily be taken at home from a computer or tablet. Also, the parent must fill out a student learning plan each year which is a simple form indicating any areas of weakness/strength of their child.
There also is another scholarship available to homeschool students who have an eligible disability. The FES-UA Unique Abilities Scholarship is also offered by Step Up For Students. For more info or to apply for the UA scholarship go to:
